I'm kicking off the summer reading program at the Savage Library!  Which sounds like something that involves cutlasses and pirates, but will probably involve books and banjos instead.  But you never know...

I'll be presenting on the joys of reading, what it's like to be an author, and how to incorporate books into your everyday life.  Joining me is Cheryl Minnema, bead artist, photographer, and fellow picture book author.  We'll be doing three family presentations for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe.

I'm doing a webinar for the Southwest Texas chapter of SCBWI on humor in picture books and why it matters.

Literacy Night at HCPA!  I'm doing 2-3 sessions for kiddos and their families, including Top Secret Special Activities™.  Banjos, airplanes, and bookish enthusiasm will abound.

I'll be doing a full day of workshops for the students at Irving Elementary, including what goes into making a book and how they can write stories of their own.  Special thanks to Christina Steeves for making the connection!

I'll be donning my professorial robes as I give a guest lecture to the illustrious H. M. Bouwman's class on writing picture books.  Such erudition!  Such aeronautical consumption!  'Twill be glorious.

I'll be stoking the flames of reading in Windom Elementary's youngsters, along with other authors and presenters.  Stop on by!

Looking for some liter-scary fun on Halloween? (Wait! Come back! No more terrible puns, I promise!) Ahem. Anyway, you'll probably like the Monster Book Bash, organized by the Minnesota chapter of the Society for Children's Book Writers & Illustrators. I'll be signing books and doing other spooky stuff. Maybe I'll haunt something. You never know.

In the vast ocean that is the Twin Cities Book Festival, I'll be bobbing merrily along at the Hamline University table, signing books, whistling shanties, and carving peg legs. Grab hold of some flotsam and float on by!

One of my favorite kidlit events of the year. Marbles! Stilting lessons! Readings! Water towers! 16 author and illustrators! One of which is me.

In the mood for a library storytime? My friend, you're in luck—I'll be at the Orland Park Public Library talking about being an author, playing a few songs, and reading stories to the kiddos.

I'll be at the illustrious Anderson's Bookshop (Downers Grove) signing books, playing the banjo, and causing all manner of literary shenanigans.

I'll be reading on the field during a St. Paul Saints game! Nothing like the ol' minor-league-baseball-airplane-consumption shtick.

It's a transportation extravaganza! I'll be reading HOW TO EAT AN AIRPLANE on the story time trolley at Excelsior Bay Books. Trolley rides at 5:00 and 6:00. Tickets are $5.
